What Happens After You Reach Out

Reaching out takes courage, especially the first time. You don’t need to have everything figured out first.

Every therapist on our team holds a master’s degree and is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and our Clinical Director, Father Pishoy Wasfy, holds both a PhD and a Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Your first session is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll talk through what’s going on, answer your questions, and figure out together what makes sense from here.

Ready to take the first step? Book a free 15-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit, or go straight to a full session. Fill out the form or call us at 905-214-7363.

Inside Your First Conversation

After reviewing your completed online Intake forms, your therapist greets you and invites you into an office for your first counselling session. You and your therapist will review the consent form that defines confidentiality and your right to privacy in counselling. You may observe that your therapist writes notes during your counselling session. Note-taking helps your therapist to document your counselling sessions and to develop his or her treatment plan for you.

Building Trust

Your first session is an essential step in building a trusting relationship with your therapist. During this time, we will:

  • Discuss confidentiality and your rights as a client.
  • Explore your reasons for seeking therapy and any goals you may have.
Your Therapist’s Role

Our therapists are here to listen without judgment, offering support and guidance tailored to your unique needs. They’ll create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to share your story.

Benefits of Therapy

During your sessions, you and your therapist will:

  • Identify and clarify your goals.
  • Develop a personalized treatment plan.
  •  Work on strategies to manage stress, improve relationships, and overcome challenges

Preparing for Your Session

We understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. To help you feel prepared and confident, we provide a Client Handbook that outlines everything you need to know about our services, policies, and what to expect.

We also encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns before your first session. Our team is here to support you every step of the way. Check out this article or click button below to download the handbook.
