A Milestone in Clinical Leadership

In 2025 Father Wasfy successfully completed his Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) from Yorkville University.  The DCP is the highest degree credential in the field in Canada, designed to bring clinical practitioners to the forefront of counselling and psychotherapy profession. The program focuses on:

  • Leadership, social justice, and cultural competence.
  • Applied scholarship to address real-world practice challenges.
  • Educating, mentoring, and supervising master's-level counsellors to define the identity of the profession.

National Recognition for Outstanding Doctoral Research & Clinical Research

Father Wasfy was also honoured with the prestigious 2025 Counsellor Educators and Supervisors (CES) Doctoral Dissemination Award from the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) at their annual conference. This national award recognizes outstanding doctoral research contributions that significantly impact the field. His research specifically focused on:

  • Self-care and clinical supervision
  • Interracial relationships in immigrant communities
  • The intersection of faith, identity, and resilience

These accomplishments reflect Father Wasfy’s vision to elevate mental health education, develop stronger practicum and supervision programs, and support the next generation of ethical and compassionate therapists.

Clinical Supervision and Training at Cornerstone

Father Wasfy leads Cornerstone’s robust practicum and supervision program. He mentors interns and supports new therapists as they enter the profession, fostering the next generation of compassionate and skilled clinicians.
