The way our earliest caregivers responded to us shapes how we approach relationships throughout life. If caregivers were consistently available, we likely developed secure attachment. If they were inconsistent, absent, or frightening, we may have developed patterns of anxious, avoidant, or disorganised attachment.
These patterns show up in adult relationships, parenting, and how we relate to ourselves — often in ways we do not fully recognise. Importantly, attachment patterns can change. Through therapy you can develop what researchers call “earned secure attachment.”
