Affordable Therapy in Mississauga and Peel Region

Quality counselling shouldn’t be out of reach because of cost.

Professional counselling with supervised interns in Mississauga, Brampton, and Peel Region

We know that therapy is most helpful when people can actually access it. That’s why we’ve built
a few different ways to make care more affordable — without reducing the quality of what you receive.

Whether you’re looking for a lower-cost option with a supervised intern, a sliding scale rate based on your income,
or free therapy through our CARE grant program, this page explains what’s available and how to get started.

Your Options at a Glance

Supervised Intern Sessions

$50 per session (no income verification required, available to everyone)

Sliding Scale Fees

Reduced rates for registered therapist sessions based on your income and household size (income verification is required)

CARE Grant

Free therapy for Peel Region residents receiving Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) support, subject to availability

All three options are described in more detail below.

Supervised Intern Sessions — $50

Our supervised intern program offers full 50 to 60 minute sessions with a carefully selected counselling candidate for $50. There is no income verification, no documentation required, and no eligibility criteria. It is available to anyone. Intern therapists at Cornerstone are graduate-level students completing their clinical training under direct supervision. They bring up-to-date clinical education, fresh perspectives, and a genuine commitment to the people they work with. All sessions are supervised by our Clinical Director, Father Pishoy Wasfy, who holds a PhD and a Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) — the highest clinical credential available in Canada. The quality of care is the same. The cost is lower because the interns are completing the final stage of their master's degree — which means you're working with someone who has completed nearly the same level of training as our registered therapists, at a fraction of the cost.

Why This Program Works

1. Same Cornerstone Standards

Our interns go through the same intake process, work within the same clinical framework, and are held to the same ethical standards as our registered therapists. The supervision structure means there is always an experienced clinician involved in your care.

2. Doctorate-Level Clinical Supervision

Every intern session at Cornerstone is supervised by Father Pishoy Wasfy, our Clinical Director. He holds a PhD and a Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) and brings over 15 years of clinical experience. Supervision is active and ongoing — not just a formality.

3. No Barriers to Getting Started

No income verification. No financial paperwork. No complex eligibility process. The $50 rate is available to anyone who wants to work with one of our interns. If you’d prefer a registered therapist or need something different, we’ll help you figure that out too.

Meet Your Therapist

Maggie Philemon

Maggie Philemon is a mature student completing her Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling at Tyndale Seminary. She brings over 25 years of life and professional experience to the counselling room, including a background as a pharmacist, extensive work with multicultural and
refugee communities, and years of volunteer mentorship with youth, families, and couples.

That breadth of experience shapes how Maggie works. She doesn’t come to counselling with a single script. She meets people where they are — whether that’s working through a difficult season individually, navigating relationship challenges as a couple, or helping a family find its footing again.

Maggie works with individuals, couples, and families and draws on:

Contact us to ask about current availability and what documentation is needed. Call us at 905.214.7363 or email [email protected] to ask.

It is available for individual, couples, and family therapy, and runs until December 31, 2026, subject to availability.
