
Mindfulness-based therapy helps people in Mississauga and Peel Region change their relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings — not by eliminating them, but by learning to respond to them more deliberately rather than being pulled around by them.
This is not about achieving a blank mind or permanent calm. The aim is to change your relationship with experience. Instead of automatically reacting to every anxious thought or uncomfortable feeling, you learn to notice what is arising and make more deliberate choices about how to respond.
Two well-researched programmes underpin most mindfulness-based therapy: MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) — developed specifically for people at risk of recurring depression and recommended by NICE in the UK for that purpose.
